Ira G. Steffy
and Son, Inc. began in 1976 when the late Ira G. Steffy
and his son, Dennis L. Steffy, purchased a small general
repair and industrial welding shop in Ephrata, PA. The
company quickly expanded its market to include
structural steel and miscellaneous metals - fabrication
and erection. General repair work was eventually phased
out as the company grew and concentrated on larger
structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects.
In January of
2003, the company was purchased by two employees, Dennis
H. Rineer and Gary R. Erb.
In October of
2004, Dennis Steffy, the former owner of Ira G. Steffy &
Son, Inc., sold Steffy Cranes, Inc., a crane rental
company, located adjacent to the steel company. The
Steffy Crane property was purchased by the steel company
and became the new location for the Ira G. Steffy and
Son – Miscellaneous Metals Department.
Ira G. Steffy
and Son, Inc. has been listed in Central Penn Business
Journal’s “Top 100 Privately Held Companies” and their
